House to House Memphis is a church that worships the Lord Jesus Christ in a few homes near the University of Memphis and in our daily lives.
We believe the historic teachings of the church, which include: mankind is separated from God because of their sin and under condemnation due to rebellion and unbelief, and Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, died for our sins to save us from hell, was buried, and rose from the grave according to God’s inspired Word, as revealed in the 66 books of the Bible.
Our purpose is to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
"Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created." [Rev 4:11 NASB20]
We strive to:
1. Be obedient to scripture.
All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness;[2Ti 3:16]
2. Take the Lord’s Table (communion) often.
For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. [1Co 11:26]
3. Worship God and encourage each other through the use of open meetings.
Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, [Act 2:46]
Let's hold firmly to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let's consider how to encourage one another in love and good deeds, not abandoning our own meeting together, as is the habit of some people, but encouraging [one another;] and all the more as you see the day drawing near. [Heb 10:23-25]
What is [the outcome] then, brothers? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. All things are to be done for edification. [1Cor 14:26]
4. Exercise plurality of leadership as the biblical form of church governance.
For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, [Tit 1:5]
The elders who lead well are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. [1Ti 5:17]
5. Go into our community, country, and the world to preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. [Matt 28:19-20]
